Chloe Cephas

I remember on shift, Chloe was aiding in a patient's care, and the efforts were of none I had seen before. We will call him Mr. L, for HIPPA purposes. Mr. L was a gunshot wound victim and had been bedbound for over 6 months. I watched Chloe nurse this patient to a rehabilitated state, when in the acute setting many times, in an out turn around is expected. She advocated for extensive physical therapy, which she was declined by management, and then took matters into her own hands. She worked with this patient, stimulating his nerves and lower extremities. Reassessing his abilities to maneuver, over a period of 6 months, Mr. L was able to operate a wheelchair and eventually was discharged from the hospital into a group home. If it were not for nurse Chloe, that patient would have been bed-bound for the rest of his life. It was at that moment that advocacy became the pillar of her practice. I will never forget that case.
