I came to Hurley Medical Center with a possible miscarriage happening, with bleeding that started a couple of hours prior. I was quickly brought back for my vitals, and then I was called back by what I later learned was an ultrasound. I came back from the ultrasound, and I was clearly disheveled and in a trauma response. I told Chloe I needed a patient advocate, and she quickly snapped into action once she realized the change in my appearance and voice from shaking and crying.

I was unable to console myself while talking about it, so in order not to disturb the rest of the ER, I went to the restroom to try and breathe through it and calm myself. While I was gone, Chloe had already notified her charge nurse and all necessary personnel. She had given my fiancé all of the information for the House Director. She validated our concerns and encouraged us to report the situation. She gave us all of the tools necessary, and even made a report herself. She went above and beyond to accommodate and advocate for me.

Chloe is the reason I stayed and received treatment, and the way that she handled me with such compassion and respect. I felt so cared for, like I was a priority, which I know wasn’t easy. This is the Level 1 Trauma Center in Flint, MI. It wasn’t easy to prioritize me the way she did, but she found a way.
