Chloe Drifka, ADN, RN

We would like to nominate Chloe for a DAISY Award for the incredible compassion, warmth, and care she showed our family. The first thing we noticed when Chloe walked into the room was her calming presence. She carried herself with such kindness and warmth, and she wore a beautiful scent that somehow made the room feel even more comforting. I kept wanting to ask her what perfume she was wearing but felt awkward bringing it up at first. After she came into the room a few times, I finally asked her, and what started as such a simple question turned into one of the most genuine and memorable conversations of our stay.

We talked about family, motherhood, and life. You could immediately see how naturally caring and loving she is. Chloe has a way of making patients feel truly seen and comfortable, not just medically cared for. I have always quietly pushed through exhaustion and rarely paused to ask for support. During our stay, I reached a moment where I was physically and emotionally drained, and admitting that I needed rest and help caring for my baby did not come easily to me. Chloe immediately met me with reassurance, kindness, and zero judgment. She reminded me that it was okay to rest and lovingly watched over our baby so I could finally sleep. In a moment when I felt overwhelmed and vulnerable, Chloe made me feel safe, supported, and cared for in a way I will never forget.

What touched me even more was what happened after I left the hospital. I ended up being readmitted and was being cared for by a different nurse. Even though I was no longer her patient, Chloe took the time to come into my room just to check on me and say hello. Seeing her walk through the door immediately lifted my spirits. She was genuinely happy to see me, and I was just as happy to see her. In such a scary and emotional moment, her kindness and presence brought me so much comfort. Chloe went out of her way to check on me, and it says everything about the kind of nurse and person she is.

Postpartum nurses do so much more than provide medical care — they support mothers through one of the most emotional, vulnerable, and life-changing moments of their lives. Chloe did that with extraordinary compassion, warmth, and genuine care, and we will never forget it. She made our postpartum experience feel safe, personal, and deeply cared for, and we will never forget the impact she had on our family! Thank you, Chloe!
