Cloe Hauser never made me feel that it was her job to take care of me, but instead something she genuinely enjoyed doing!
Recently I was admitted to Carolinas Medical Center for an intractable migraine that caused weakness in my right side and vision loss, among other symptoms. While admitted I had a variety of nurses given that I was there for 6 days, but none as kind, compassionate, caring, attentive, and personable as Chloe Hauser. My admission was difficult and full of pain and curveballs. One of these said “curveballs” was my bladder suddenly not releasing urine and needing to have a catheter inserted. Chloe fought for me, and my needs against a doctor in order to do what was best for my health (which at that point was placing a Foley). Chloe continued to message doctors when she saw how much pain I was in.
During the actual placement she was kind, courteous, and cautious amongst trying to make it as enjoyable as possible by laughing and talking with me. She made it clear that she cared for me and did everything she could to make me comfortable both physically and mentally. At a really difficult time post-catheter placement, she sat at my bedside and talked with me for upwards of 30 minutes, even though I knew her day was busy. Cloe Hauser never made me feel that it was her job to take care of me, but instead something she genuinely enjoyed doing! It was like having a friend throughout admission! On top of all these things she would come and check on me throughout her shift even if she didn’t need to do any “care type things”. Chloe Hauser is a true DAISY Nurse not only for her attentive attitude towards patients, their problems and how she can best help, but also for her commitment towards making the patients feel loved and like a friend and not just a task.
