Chloris demonstrated bravery and extraordinary presence of mind during an unimaginable moment outside of work. While playing a casual game of pickleball with fellow nurses, one of their colleagues suddenly collapsed on the court. In that terrifying and chaotic moment, Chloris did not hesitate. Alongside another nurse, she responded immediately, helping initiate life-saving measures and remaining by their colleague’s side until EMS arrived.

Her calmness under pressure, her awareness, and her ability to provide support during such a high-stress situation were nothing short of remarkable. What stands out most about Chloris in that moment is not just her clinical instinct, but the depth of her compassion. She did not panic. She did not wait for someone else to step in. She showed up, physically, emotionally, and mentally, doing everything she could for a teammate in need.

Her strength, courage, and commitment to caring for others were on full display, and they made all the difference.

Moments like this remind us how powerful nurses truly are,  how they become the steady force between chaos and care when someone’s life hangs in the balance. Chloris’s actions outside the hospital demonstrate that the heart of a nurse beats just as strongly after the shift ends as it does on the unit.
