Chris was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived in the NICU! She showed us the resources we would have access to, discussed the plan each day when we arrived, and helped us understand any concepts and medical terms that we weren't quite grasping after rounding was complete.
She was an advocate for our son on his unique medical situation by requesting consults for us to get the answers and assistance our son needed. The confidence we had while our son was in her care was no different than if we were the ones providing the care ourselves, as we came to trust in her as family.
All of this is true because Chris was always looking for ways to connect with our family. The best example of this was when our three-year-old first came in to visit our son and said, "I want a different one." She was confused and scared, and Chris recognizing that, reached out to a child life resource to assist with explaining the NICU to our daughter through coloring and picture books. From that day, our daughter started referring to the isolette her brother slept in and said she loved her brother. Chris truly brought our family relief and peace by bringing this resource to us. This is just one of several examples of how Chris went above and beyond to ensure we were getting everything we needed.
Chris is an angel without wings! She is truly the kind of nurse that we want any family member to have when they spend time in the hospital, because she would treat them like they are her family. She is exceptional at nursing, educating and mentoring, customer service, and patient advocacy!
