We would like to nominate Christina Ford, Assistant Nurse Manager of PACU/Day Surgery. Chris is truly an example of an excellent leader. She leads us with compassion, empathy, wit, positivity, and patience (which I’m pretty sure is her superpower). Chris always has her staff’s best interest in mind, creating both a physically and emotionally safe place to work. She ensures each of us has what we need to deliver the best patient care. She listens to each staff member and no matter what the complaint or how unrealistic it might be, she does her best to offer a solution. In her short time as ANM, she has created an environment where her staff feel comfortable offering suggestions, and she helps foster those ideas into quality improvement initiatives which have created better patient outcomes. You can always count on Chris to remember a birthday, a personal milestone, or an accomplishment, and she celebrates each one of her staff like we are her own kids (and trust me, we can be a bunch of babies). Chris is a true example of a VA leader. She understands the need to take care of her staff so that they feel confident to deliver the best care to our Veterans. And she can relate any situation back to a Seinfeld episode, which doesn’t really pertain to anything but it’s incredibly amusing and entertaining. We are truly blessed to have Chris as our leader. The world needs more people like her.
