Chris has officially been my nurse for two days in a row, but he has been checking in on me since I arrived a week ago. I knew him by name before being his patient. He has answered at the call light and attended to me in small things making sure I was comfortable even when he didn't have to.

I was very highly pleased that he was assigned to me these last two days. He is very attentive and caring. He is gentle when appropriate and builds a rapport with his patients. He listens and empathizes. He is quick to respond to the call light.

Even on the occasions when I might have been slightly upset (mostly with the kitchen's mistakes, as the staff on this unit are outstanding), he has let me vent and gone out of his way to fix whatever the problem was. He has managed on those occasions to make me feel much better about the situations and even gave me reasons to laugh about it.

His demeanor and efficiency show the excellent care that can be delivered when a nurse has a true calling, and since it is not yet possible to clone him, he should be a standard that all employees strive to emulate. This is not to say the rest of the staff is not excellent, but rather to say that even a great staff as this can improve and Chris has raised the bar beyond excellency to astonishing.

Your staff and patients are extremely lucky to have Chris as a co-worker and nurse. I am honored to give him this recommendation and sincerely hope he is given this much-deserved award.

I will continue to try to figure out a way to clone him, as should your lab!

I'm kidding — sort of.

Thank you, Chris, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
