There was a patient at The Dove House (hospice) whose daughter, his youngest, was pregnant with her first child and the patient’s third grandchild. Since he would not be able to see the child’s birth, the Dove House staff asked Chris Lowery, RN if they could borrow a Doppler machine to allow the patient to hear his future grandchild’s heartbeat from the womb. Chris immediately went over to the Dove House, offering to perform the procedure herself. During the exam, the family not only listened to the heartbeat, they also videotaped the touching experience. It was a beautiful moment for the patient and his family.
