He honestly made us feel like he was here to help us no matter the time or inconvenience.
Chris was attentive and caring during an extremely challenging time for our family. We were traveling to Colorado from the East Coast to celebrate my in-law's 60th wedding anniversary and my mother-in-law became very ill (pancreatitis and respiratory failure) and was intubated and sedated in the ICU. Chris was calm and collaborative with the entire team to advocate for her with the respiratory team, surgical team, and pulmonology. He explained things to her, encouraged her, and recognized her concerns sometimes before she expressed them. He took the time to sit and talk to her and hear her concerns. He understood our family difficulties, especially my father-in-law, who was worried and out of his home routine living in a hotel during this time. He always asked him if he needed anything and found him a comfortable chair, which was a big deal as he often napped next to her. When we thanked him after cleaning her up or giving medications, he always said, "It is my privilege." This made us all, especially my mother-in-law, feel heard and valued. If something happened (such as needing cleaning or toileting) during change of shift, he never bumped the problem to another person. He honestly made us feel like he was here to help us no matter the time or inconvenience. Thank you, Chris, for taking the time to get to know my mother-in-law (and all of us) and caring for us as human beings and not just another patient. THANK YOU! You are amazing.
