Chris Taylor is our case manager. She does many jobs to include nurse, chaplain, and patient advocate. She talks to all the families in the unit to update them - DAILY. She sits down with the family members and explains procedures, plan of care, condition updates – whatever needs to be covered in addition to her own job responsibilities. She listens to families and I believe she boosts our patient/family satisfaction rates by always being a link between the families and the hospital. She has her “finger on the pulse” of every single patient in this unit. It is because of Chris that families under high stress stay informed and happy until the physicians can get in touch with them. She gives the extra touch – and then some – that keeps this unit running like a well oiled machine. So, in essence, she is at the bedside and out in the hallways and on the telephone talking and updating; holding the hands of those who are in need of extra support. She deserves The DAISY Award.
