She is amazing with the patients. One of my favorite things about Chris is that she never introduces herself to patients as "the manager"; she will always say "I'm a nurse on the unit."
Our unit secretary was on vacation. Chris stepped into the role while also doing her unit manager duties. One day we had 7 /Cs, 5 admissions, and 0 transfers. The next day we had 7 D/Cs, 4 admissions, and 2 transfers. Without Chris’ help, those two days I would have never been able to keep up. Thank you for your help!

Chris is constantly going out of her way to help and support the 4 S team. This includes techs, nurses, secretaries, case managers, and anyone else who interacts with our patients. She is amazing with the patients. One of my favorite things about Chris is that she never introduces herself to patients as "the manager"; she will always say "I'm a nurse on the unit." Chris really puts herself on our level and treats us like we are equals.
The specific event that made me submit this nomination happened yesterday. Early in the shift we had to send a nurse to occupational health and then to the ED. That took us from 5 nurses and 2 techs to 4 nurses and 2 techs. I was charge nurse which meant I had to take all of this nurse's patients. For a brief amount of time, this gave me seven patients until we officially knew we were staffing 4 and 2 and I gave another nurse a patient. Chris didn't hesitate to jump in and help with everything. One of the patients I gained started complaining of chest pain; Chris took care of everything while I handled everyone else. She helped on the floor and with the charge duties while I worked on the floor. This is how Chris always is. She is never too busy to help her team in whatever way she can. I could write a whole book about how great Chris is, but they wouldn't have time to sit in their office and read it.
