Chrisanne Barnes, MSN, RN is a Patient Nurse Navigator for Neurodiagnostics at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Chrisanne has been working on a 32-year-old patient's discharge dispo for almost 3 months. She has hit roadblocks almost every day. Communicating with difficult family and the mildly delayed patient has also not been easy. Chrisanne starts off everyday spending 5-10 min checking in with him. She has a great rapport with him. In August, the patient had a mental breakdown and became destructive. The only person who could calm him down and stop him from further damage was Chrisanne. It took her all day and evening, but Chrisanne was able to get ahold of some of the patient's friends to also keep him calm. This is just one example of a patient Chrisanne has. There are many more patients on her consult list that we know she puts her 110% effort towards. Her compassion and care know no bounds.
