On Mother’s Day, she created a moment that will live forever in a mother's heart—helping her hold her infant for the very first time in the Intensive Care Nursery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Chrisoula “Chrissy” Rogus, BSN, RN, CBC, is a nurse at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Intensive Care Nursery. Chrissy is the embodiment of compassion, clinical excellence, and unwavering dedication to patient- and family-centered care. On Mother’s Day, she created a moment that will live forever in a mother's heart—helping her hold her infant for the very first time in the Intensive Care Nursery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

This wasn’t a simple task. It required careful planning, coordination, and the skilled hands of someone who truly understands the importance of both safety and emotional connection. Chrissy took the time to ensure everything was in place—from securing lines and monitoring vital signs to make the mother feel confident and supported throughout the process. Thanks to her thoughtful efforts, the mother was able to experience one of the most meaningful milestones in her ICN journey.

What made this moment even more powerful was that the mother recently experienced the profound loss of her own mom. During grief and uncertainty, Chrissy offered a moment of light, healing, and human connection on a day that holds deep emotional meaning for many. Her kindness went far beyond clinical care; it was an act of true empathy and humanity.
Chrissy brings this level of dedication to her work every day. She does not seek recognition or praise, but her actions speak volumes. She consistently advocates for her patients, supports her colleagues, and leads with a calm and caring presence.

For her extraordinary compassion, clinical skill, and ability to provide comfort during one of the most vulnerable times in a family’s life, especially on a day as significant as Mother’s Day, Chrissy is more than deserving of the DAISY Award.
