My personal professional gratitude for Christa Krafton, RN in charge for managing the team to focus and collaborate for this severely septic patient. The patient became suddenly tachycardic, hypotensive, and febrile to 105 degrees. The ice machine was in repair until Monday. Attempts made to cool the patient failed. Christa had the team mobilized, more ice was directed to be brought in from PACU, while other RN's placed chemical ice packs on the patient. The decision was made to place another multi-cooling blanket pack by Christa and this turned the tide, by allowing no delay in acute patient care. Of course, the team's support was greatly appreciated. The DAISY ward recognition is for the wonderful outcome of this severely septic patient, due to the charge nurse's actions and direction of the staff in this difficult situation.
