Her caring for our father was truly unbelievable. Not only did Christa provide care for him physically, she cared for him on an emotional level too.
The reasons Christa is a DAISY Nurse are numerous, but I will try to keep it to a minimum. Christa was kind, caring compassionate, and very helpful to my father, family members, and all who visited him. Her kindness came through as we wept over the future loss of our father. Always asking my dad and us if we needed anything. I am so thankful for her words of kindness as we navigated the uncharted waters of hospice care and the end of life for my dad. Her caring for our father was truly unbelievable. Not only did she provide care for him physically, she cared for him on an emotional level too, which is so rare these days. In the words of my Dad, "she kinda took me under her arms when I was feeling scared and made me feel better." "She was a very nice lady."
Compassion...if one word is all I could use to describe Christa this would be that word. She has compassion for all people, her patients, the family members, and her coworkers. Christa's passion for her career showed in her eyes each time she came into his room. My father is hard of hearing and Christa would sit next to him on the bed and talk softly into his ear so he could hear her, during Covid no less. No other employee took the time to be sure he heard what was being said, but SHE DID! That is compassion! It brought tears to my eyes, as I'm sure it made my dad feel more at ease and included in the conversation.
Christa's professionalism shined through and was impressive by supporting her coworkers, yet her compassionate side never made me feel as though my questions and concerns weren't valid. She was a tremendous help during this difficult time. She was and I am sure still is a true advocate for her patients.
