I would like to nominate Christian for the DAISY Award because she completely changed the course of our day and made us feel truly cared for during one of the most frightening moments of our pregnancy. That morning, my husband and I were told that our baby was breech or possibly too big for a vaginal delivery. Hearing that news left us shocked, scared, and overwhelmed. This was not our first baby, so we understood the seriousness of what was being said, but everything felt rushed and confusing. We wanted a moment to process and to see the ultrasound ourselves, but it felt like no one was giving us time to breathe or really acknowledging our fears. Then Christian came into the room, and it felt like everything finally slowed down. She was so warm, kind, and gentle from the moment she walked in. She sat with us, listened closely to our worries, and made us feel like our feelings truly mattered. She went above and beyond to help us feel at ease, not just as patients but as people who were scared and needed compassion. Christian offered to perform an ultrasound so we could better understand what was going on. She talked us through each step with patience and reassurance. Because she took the time to look carefully and respond to our concerns, she discovered that our baby was actually not breech. The relief we felt in that moment is something we will never forget. Her willingness to slow down, double-check, and honor our wishes allowed me to continue with my hope for a vaginal delivery. My husband and I both said, We need more nurses like Christian. She is everything a nurse should be: thoughtful, attentive, understanding, and incredibly kind. She made us feel safe at a time when we felt lost and scared, and she gave us comfort in the most genuine way. Christian went above and beyond in every possible way. Her kindness, her presence, and her willingness to listen made all the difference in our experience. She is truly deserving of this recognition, and we are so grateful for the care she gave us.
