Christian was empathetic, thoughtful, knowledgeable, witty, professional, caring, and above all, passionate about working in the NICU.
My son was born in very critical condition and was in the NICU for 3 weeks. This was the most stressful and difficult time in our lives. Tensions and emotions were very high, not to mention during an international pandemic. All procedures and protocols were even more difficult than usual during this sensitive time. But the entire staff in the NICU, including doctors, were phenomenal. I got to know some of the staff pretty well since my son was there for so long, and every single RN, MD, respiratory tech, etc. were just absolutely amazing.
However, one RN in particular stood out. Christian was empathetic, thoughtful, knowledgeable, witty, professional, caring, and above all, passionate about working in the NICU. He and I had many long talks during those long nights in the NICU, he always put my mind at ease, was always able to calm me down and make me feel 100x better. My husband and I always had 10 million questions and probably asked them over and over again. Christian of course answered every single one with a smile. I didn't feel like a patient around him, I felt like a friend.
As he was busy working hard, charting, caring for other children and accommodating other families (among many other tasks), it still felt like he was my son's "personal" nurse. He never treated my son or myself like just another patient. I feel like he treated us like family. He was amazing to my husband and I; he always put our minds at ease during the most stressful time in our life. I know I could not have gotten through this difficult time without him and his witty jokes and his laugh! Like I mentioned before, we had many long talks during those nights in the NICU and I've never met anyone, let alone a nurse, more passionate about what they do and who they care for. He truly loves his job and his patients along with their families. I truly hope he is recognized because I know I'm not the only parent whom he has made a difference in their lives during a tremendously stressful time. This is just how he is, he is naturally a wonderful person. Thank you Christian for all you do.
