Christian is kind and provides amazing care. My grandfather cannot speak, but her understands. He writes to respond in conversation. Many people and health care workers ignore him or speak to family instead of him because of this, which causes him to get frustrated. A doctor came in to show his imaging, but only showed it to my uncle and was explaining with their back faced to my grandpa. My grandpa was trying to sit himself up and adjust his bed to see what was going on, and nobody noticed. Christian advocated for him, and in the next meetings, my grandpa was spoken directly to. Christian also demonstrated patience when waiting for my grandpa to write his response. In the past, my grandpa declined medical treatment or was upset because he was not listened to, but with Christian's help, he was made to feel comfortable and accept care. He is also calmer and willing to follow through with a potential life-saving procedure for himself. I have never seen him so willing to receive care, or people treat him like he is still a person, even if he cannot talk. Thank you! (My grandpa, the patient, had a stroke. He cannot write as fast, but he wanted Christian to receive this award as well.)
