Christiana has been with the organization for almost two decades. I have never met another nurse so filled with love and passion for her fellow humans and for God. She truly "walks the walk" and holds herself to a high standard of treating others with respect every day in every situation. She greets everyone with a smile and a kind word. Once every few years when she travels to Ghana to see her family, she uses half of her vacation time to minister to the poor and sick in mission work. For her trip, she buys supplies with her own finances and takes donations to give to the people of Ghana. She has taken in those without a home and given them a home and treated those without a family as if they were part of her family. In our hospital she has taken care of our unfunded and undocumented patients, not only as if it were her job, but as if it were her ministry.
Most recently, she helped bring a family together to take care of their sick loved one after a hospital stay. While working with this family she came in on her days off and answered phone calls at night giving emotional support. After many struggles, she received a text from the patient a few months later telling her how special she was and asking Jesus's blessing on her. This nurse believes she is only an instrument doing God's work, but we know that she is willing to go above and beyond to do whatever is needed to assist others whether they are colleagues or patients. Christiana has inspired all of us, and I know that she is greatly loved by those who work with her and that she does not see how she truly touches so many every day.
