The way Christie engages with him and the language she used is so kind and thoughtful.
My husband is 67 and on hospice care. This was an unexpected and very hard time for us. You see, my husband was an avid outdoorsman and constantly active. His cancer has taken everything away from him for the most part and he can sometimes be a pill to deal with. Christie is always a bright spot to our week. The way she engages with him and the language she used is so kind and thoughtful. You can tell its so well thought out, not to scare him, always reassuring to both of us and making sure his every need is met. I can not explain the peace she gives us. Last week, my husband was blessed with a day that he felt good enough to ride on the lawnmower in the large field we have adjacent to our house for a short period of time. She arrived just as he got started and he was enjoying it so much he didn't want to ride back over to the house for her visit. I offered we could go to him and apologized that this visit had inconvenienced her route. She reassured no apology necessary and said "this will be a first for me!" as she follow me into our side by side...what my husband calls our "buggy". My husband's face seemed to light up as his nurse did his visit in our field, with him sitting on his lawnmower. He talked about it that evening, how it felt good to be able to do something and that his nurse got to see him do it and still did his visit with him - "now that's a real nurse, he said" I just want to thank Christie from the bottom of our hearts for everything she continues to do for us in this awful time in our lives and I hope she always realizes the difference she makes.
