A patient in CCU was extubated at shift change. He was a terminal cancer patient who had a great visit with his daughter, her fiancé, and son. He enjoyed astronomy and wanted to go outside for fresh air and see the stars and full moon. Christie pushed the patient, in his bed, down to the patio to watch the stars. The family was very appreciative of this. His daughter andher fiancé were married by the pastor at his bedside. The next day the patient passed. His daughter called and expressed her appreciation for what Christie had done.
Christie, thank you for making such a meaningful difference in the lives of your patients. By going the "extra mile," you made such a huge impact on your patient and his family.
