Today, Christina Bates had an 18-year-old patient who was supposed to be at her graduation ceremony. Christina coordinated a "graduation ceremony" here at KMC, including cap and gown, the Superintendent and about 50 friends and relatives. The patient was able to walk with Christina helping her down the hall between CTCU and SICU. People were lined up on either side and there were cheers from everyone!
The superintendent then presented the patient with her diploma as though she were at the actual ceremony. There were many tears throughout, the visitors and nurses. Christina's compassionate nature has once again stepped up and created a positive experience for a girl who was missing her graduation. Way to go Christina!
