Christina coached a very sick and young patient who was despondent and lacked hope. Christina gave the patient small achievable goals to work towards and discussed longer-term goals and provided rationales for how these things would be helpful in the future. The patient later sent Christina a letter thanking her - "Christina, I would first of all like to say thank you. Thank you for really pushing me and thank you for the pep talk we had. When you told me that we were close in age and how much life I had to live; something in me didn't want to give up any more."
