Christina Furtado, RN

Ms. Furtado has been one of the best GI nurse managers I have worked with throughout my career. Her commitment to providing excellent care to veterans is exemplary. She works tirelessly with her staff to ensure the GI unit performs at the highest level using available resources. Her colleagues and GI trainees respect her well. She collaborates effectively with other departments to ensure the GI unit operates smoothly. Despite facility challenges, she coordinates with upper management, infection control, SPS, clinical engineering, FMS, and EMS to solve or devise workarounds to provide safe, uninterrupted Veteran care. She serves as a role model for staff to acquire career advancement. An LPN in the unit recently achieved an RN status. She promotes the sharing of ideas to enhance workflow in the unit. She is kind and compassionate. She played pivotal roles in several notable projects in the department, including the National Mailed Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT), Endoscopy GO Green, Advanced Liver Disease, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects.
