Christina Getto, RN
While assessing one of the patients, Christina noticed that one of the infant’s eyes was looking “cloudy.” This was concerning to her, so she immediately notified the primary care team for this infant. After further assessment, the Ophthalmology team was consulted, and it was discovered this infant likely had glaucoma. More tests performed showed an increase in pressure of both of the infant’s eyes. The infant was transferred for eye surgery the following day. Because of Christina’s excellent nursing assessment skills and attention to detail, she played an essential role to get this infant immediate care which has resulted in saving this infant from becoming blind. Christina always goes above and beyond for her patients, in which this case was life-altering. We are so grateful to her and proud she is a member of our team!
