Christina has consistently demonstrated a caring and compassionate attitude towards all patients within the Emergency Department remaining non-judgemental and always putting the Trust values into action. Recently, the team had to deal with a traumatic incident, Christina was in charge of the emergency department and she immediately took control of the situation and was able to really demonstrate the comprehensive feature of the nurse's role in advocating for the patient's needs. Christina helped, reassured, and cared for her colleagues so they could, in turn, deliver the best possible care under extreme circumstances. Christina demonstrates true professionalism, compassion, and courage. We know that nurses have an enormous privilege of carrying the burden of preserving human dignity amid uncertainty, and in this case, Christina demonstrated the core values that underpin nursing practice. The team states that this required a special type of selflessness and strength which in turn, provided the patient with a sense of feeling safe, loved, and cared for.
