I have worked with Christina Curry (RN) for going on 8 months now at the VA. She is by far one of the most caring and understanding nurses I have personally worked with. This isn't for just one occasion but every single one of her patients she gives the best quality of care that these Veterans deserve and need for the sacrifices they have made for this country. We worked with many patients together, and whenever they had a question about their healthcare needs and what the next steps are she will always do her best in explaining the situation and the next steps to her patients. For me personally, whenever I have a question regarding a patient or new diagnosis/treatment/etc., she will always make the time to explain and show me the techniques and let me watch her do the treatments, etc. Christina and I were working with a patient one night, and we both knew he wasn't looking too good. We determined we needed to call for help, and by the time we had help coming the patient was coding, Christina and the other nurse went to action right away and called for help and started CPR. We did end up getting the patient's pulse back, and he was sent to ICU. This was the first code blue I had ever gone through, so I was a little shaken about the whole thing. I am so thankful my first experience was with Christina because she was so kind and made me realize that she would be the greatest nurse to train under when I become a nurse. I will forever be thankful for her, and I believe she deserves to be honored. There are many great nurses who work for the VA, but I personally believe she is by far the best!
