MSgt Wick demonstrated a superb patient, warm, and welcoming bedside manner that was instrumental in calming down my patient when it was very evident the child was outside her comfort zone and upset.
TSgt Stewart and MSgt Wick went above and beyond the call of duty today to ensure quality care was provided to one of my most medically complex patients and her family. I was very impressed with the time and energy each of these individuals invested into the care of my patient during an extremely busy morning in the Pediatrics Clinic to include obtaining vital signs and an initial intake in an environment that made my patient most comfortable, which turned out to be in the back seat of her father's vehicle in the circle of the parking lot.
TSgt Stewart was phenomenal in working diligently and efficiently to obtain the exact medical records I needed from the family in order to be able to complete the forms required to renew an exceptionally important therapy service for the child. She was also able to promptly seek assistance and expert consult from the pediatric developmental subspecialist, which provided me with the knowledge I needed to complete my patient's paperwork.
MSgt Wick demonstrated a superb patient, warm, and welcoming bedside manner that was instrumental in calming down my patient when it was very evident the child was outside her comfort zone and upset. She was able to develop that fundamental and essential feeling of trust between a patient and medical personnel, which allowed me the opportunity to be able to perform a focused physical exam and consequently come up with an appropriate assessment and plan of care.
The efforts employed by TSgt Stewart and MSgt Wick as described above were beyond compare of what I would have expected for the circumstances of the complex situation given the never-ending hustle and bustle of the JBER Pediatrics Clinic. This appt encompassed approx 1.5 hrs of the morning and a majority of the encounter took place outside in the cold, windy weather of the hospital parking lot. I am incredibly grateful for their endeavors to be creative and explore alternative means of providing quality care to my patient and her family as their commitment also prevented me from becoming derailed and exceptionally far behind with the remainder of my full and very busy clinic schedule. Thank you!
