One day last week Christina saw a mother and her 2 yr old child with cancer walking down the hall to leave after being discharged from a round of chemotherapy treatment. Christina noticed that G.C. was walking slow and appeared very fatigued. G.C's mom had her bag over her shoulder and was holding G.C.s hand to help him along. Christina told mom that she will carry their belongings so the mom can carry G.C. since he was having trouble walking. Christina stayed with G.C. while mom went to get the car in the ER lot. Mom came back in crying hysterically because her car battery was dead. Christina quickly thought and told mom, not to worry, she will contact Public Safety to see if they could help. Public Safety went out to the car with mom to jump the battery. Christina told mom, she would keep G.C with her and take care of him so he didn’t have to go out in the cold. Mom was so relieved and amazed at Christina's incredible kindness and empathy toward her situation. She knew Christina was busy, but the fact that Christina took the time, not only to notice that G.C. was weak walking and offered to help them so mom could carry her sick son, but also helped with fixing the car problem. G.C's mom said she was beside herself when the battery was dead and Christina reached out and went that extra mile to call Public Safety and offered to keep G.C warm inside with her while they fixed the car. Mom stated "I don't know what I would have done that day without Christina's quick and selfless offerings. She made a very difficult day so much better, and I don't know what I would have done without her stepping forward and helping us that day." She was and still is a true angel in my eyes.
