She said I don't feel you should be going home, "I am worried about you." Christina went and got a doctor out of the ER to come and talk to me. Thank God I didn't leave because of the nurse.
This nurse saved me not once but twice now. The first time I ever met her, she could see that I was really hurting. She left the room and came back with a blow-up cushion for my backside. What a relief! I was headed back home to Vermont on that same day. She looked very concerned for me. She said I don't feel you should be going home, "I am worried about you." Christina went and got a doctor out of the ER to come and talk to me. Thank God I didn't leave because of the nurse. I ended up in the ER a few days later. I had a blockage and had to get 10 rounds of radiation. The blockage loosened up, and I received chemo again. When I came back for another round of chemo, I didn't have Christina at that time. That cycle really kicked my butt. I was sick for three weeks and could not eat anything. I felt awful. I am now on TPN, which keeps me going. The next cycle of chemo, I had Christina as my nurse again and told her how awful I had been feeling. She asked me if I was taking steroids. She informed me that these are used with the regimen that I am on for a couple of days after treatment. I hadn't taken steroids for a long time. Christina got on the phone with the care team and got a prescription ordered, and the pharmacy delivered it to me in the infusion center. I love this nurse. She is truly an angel.
