When my father expressed concerns about preparing and administering TPN the next day, Christina went above and beyond, and face timed with him on her day off to support him.
We would like to take this moment to thank Valley Home Care for sending us the perfect nurse. My mother has a very complex case with a history of Chron's disease and several bowl operations over 20+ years. Her most recent surgery did not go as planned and incurred many complications. She was sent home with a new ostomy, G-tube, capped drains, TPN, and absolutely no education.
On her second day home, the G - tube disconnected at 2 in the morning with the contents spilling all over her and the bed. My mother became anxious, depressed, and angry that she made the wrong decision to even have the surgery.
And that's just about my mother, my poor father was very anxious and nervous setting up and giving her TPN and fluids. Overwhelmed and distraught, thinking we would have to take her back to the hospital, in walks Christina Murphy.
From the moment she walked in the education began, we learned more in the first 10 minutes than we did in the month my mother was hospitalized. She explained TPN, demonstrated and walked through step by step how to prepare and administer it. She examined my mother and fixed the broken G - tube, with her extremely knowledgeable nursing skills while explaining everything she was doing. She changed her ostomy, noting concerns she had about the stoma, and again using her amazing skills cleaned and reapplied the ostomy.

In 3 days when she returned, my mother's stoma looked so much better, and she was not experiencing the burning pain any longer. Her G - tube did not leak again, and my father has become comfortable and might I dare say, almost a pro at preparing and giving my mother TPN and fluids. In 3 days, Christina has changed their moods from severe anxiety and anger to a place of calmness, acceptance, and a renewed focus on recovery.
I firmly believe Christina is the perfect nurse for my mother. Her patience, compassion, and knowledge have impacted us so much just in the first week of care. Thank you, Christina, and Valley Home Care - for providing excellent care and supporting us in my mother's ongoing recovery.
