Her personality put my sister at ease and it comforted her that there is someone like Christina whom she could depend on to look after her at the time when she is most vulnerable.
I am writing to nominate a fantastic nurse who provided my sister top-notch care at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her name is Christina Ngo. I would like to thank her for the excellent care she has given my sister. She was very compassionate and proactive. She has amazing assessment skills and was able to address signs of deterioration at the earliest stage. She is an asset to this field and a wonderful role model to future nurses. I was hoping she will be given the highest possible recognition for the wonderful job she is doing and for setting the bar high for excellent nursing care.
My sister has been admitted for Stage 4 Metastatic Ovarian Cancer. It’s been a difficult time for her and the family, seeing her in constant pain and deteriorating every day. On this latest admission, due to risks and complications, if she undergoes further intervention, she was made DNR and no intubation. It’s been a very emotional, painful experience for my sister and her loved ones. Her body might be giving up but her will to fight is so strong. Christina came into the room like a ray of sunshine. Christina made sure that my sister is comfortable. She acted immediately when she saw my sister was very unwell and she listened to her—that’s the most important thing. Because she listened, my sister was able to get immediate treatment. And when my sister’s children – ages 8 and 9 years old – came to visit, she was very friendly to them and offered them ice cream, which greatly cheered them up. They’ve been very sad due to their mom’s condition and Christina did not forget to give emotional support to them as well. It’s the little things that really make the greatest impact.
