We had the pleasure of getting Christina as a nurse when we had our daughter J. When we arrived at the hospital to have our son H two years later, the first thing we asked is, “Does Christina still work here?” We cannot even count the number of times we’ve shared with family and friends how much Christina means to us between the births of our two children. A few words to describe Christina: caring, maternal, hard-working, and encouraging. She was our biggest cheerleader through both of my not-so-easy labor and deliveries.

Christina made me feel so cared for and safe throughout both. When I had my son H, I had an emergency C-section and was rushed back to the OR with no warning. My husband was not allowed to come into the OR for a while. The first question I asked is “Where is my husband?” When the doctors told me he was not able to come in yet, the next question was “Where is Christina?” She came to me and made me feel calm and safe. There are some people who come into this world with a special purpose. Christina was, without a doubt, meant to be a nurse. She is a beacon of light during a scary time. She is a maternal hug when a patient is scared. She is a hand to hold when you need comfort. She is an encouraging smile when you feel like giving up. Highland Park Hospital is extremely lucky to have a nurse like Christina on its staff. We will forever remember her and be grateful to her for helping us navigate becoming parents of both of our children. Thank you, Christina. You’ll always be a part of our story.
