My young daughter gave birth, and her boyfriend had to work overnight. She was terrified of being alone for the first time overnight as a new mom. Christina stayed with her all night, talking with my daughter and calming her fears about being a new mom.

My daughter has not had an easy life, and she is often overlooked and judged for things beyond her control. I cannot thank the entire staff enough for providing her with the compassionate care and dignity she deserves. Christina went above and beyond, doing more than required to support my daughter in a moment when I could not be there.

I strongly believe that some things in life mean more when they come from a stranger, not your mom. I will forever be grateful to Christina for supporting my daughter and new granddaughter on their first night alone together. My daughter told me the next morning she only survived that night without a panic attack because of Christina being with her.

These words capture exactly why the DAISY Award exists—to honor nurses whose hearts lead the way. Christina, your kindness brought safety, dignity, and peace to a new mother during one of the most vulnerable nights of her life. You exemplify the Mercy mission, and we are deeply grateful for the extraordinary care you provide.
Please join me in celebrating Christina Pongratz, our DAISY Award honoree.

Thank you, Christina, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
