Christy is absolutely amazing, the compliments that I hear about her from her coworkers are remarkable. They say she will never leave her wingman and her actions show it. Christy is always rounding on her coworkers, asking them if they need help, her coworkers reluctant to ask for help because they know she is busy also, Christy says "I have the time, please let me help you." Christy leads by example, and shows this compassion for her patients and coworkers. Christy ambulates her patients, even in her busy day, where the PCIA could ambulate them, she takes the time to ambulate them, sit with her patients, talking with them, making them feel cared for. She has touched many families, patients, and her coworkers, in a way that should be recognized.

Christy recently cared for a patient who was 48-year-old that had suffered from a brain injury. Due to his difficult condition, complication, and facing comorbidities, the patient and family members were having difficulty understanding the plan of care and the collaboration between the physicians. Christy was persistent about getting answers for the family. They never left the bedside, and they were very active in the patient's care. Christy worked diligently with the physicians, informing them of her patient's concerns, collaborating with them to ensure they were rounding on, rounded with the physicians to ensure they were able to verbalize all of their concerns, and reiterated this information with the family. During leader rounds, Christy was recognized for her persistence of getting answers. The sister was amazed and said that Christy was a godsend, and that she knew Christy was very busy with contacting multiple consultants; however, she never let this be known while she was in the room. The sister noticed that Christy always put her brother first and she often said, "I have the time". With the patient having a brain injury he had difficulty expressing himself, his sister verbalized that her patience working with her brother was remarkable, which she always led a conversation with a smile, spoke from her heart, very kindly and respectfully.

Christy's assessment and communication skills with patients and families are phenomenal even when she is put in the most difficult situations. Another example of her going above and beyond for a patient is when the Christy was in charge. There was a patient who needed a special boot so he could ambulate, continue therapy, and be discharged. It was challenging obtaining this boot from an outside company, and not having this special boot was hindering the patient's progression of therapy. Christy identified the barrier and lead efforts in obtaining the boot within a few hours. Her coworkers were very grateful because the primary nurse did not have the time to make multiple calls for this patient, and Christy recognized that the nurse needed help, acted as a calming force and her rigorous efforts were successful. The patient was able to take his first steps with this new boot and continue therapy.

When in charge Christy ensures that her coworkers have help, she acts as a calming force, and consistently inspires others to do so also. Christy rounds the unit, following up with each nurse and PCIA asking them if she could help them in any way. She acts as a positive role model and is responsive to patient's needs. While rounding on other associates, they feel that the unit runs smooth when Christy is in charge, and feel she makes a difference in patient care. I am so proud of Christy; she is a nurse that exemplifies so much compassion.
