I first met Christina when I was running errands in the community. As I was pulling into a store parking lot, I witnessed an older man fall off the curb while attempting to step onto it. I stopped my car to check on the man and another person stopped her car too. Although the man was conscious, he was obviously upset, and the other driver kindly attended to the man and his injuries. The other driver needed to leave when the ambulance arrived, as she had her young son with her. The patient had no family in the area and had never been to a hospital before, so I told him I would meet him there. The patient was transported to Pottstown Hospital via ambulance and was diagnosed with a fractured hip. Prior to his surgery, I visited the patient in his room and in walked Christina, the driver, and a nurse on the patient’s floor! This serendipitous encounter was well received by both the nurse and the patient! She went out of her way in the community and in the hospital to be compassionate.
