Learning from Tina, I see that what matters most are the people around you.
If you have been around the 6th floor at all, or even just at Sky Ridge Medical Center for more than a few minutes, chances are you know Tina. Her willingness to fight for her department, her staff, and her patients has made her pretty well known around here! I think what most people would tell you about Tina is that she is an amazing CNC, leader, nurse, and truly a rock-star bouncer who strives to keep the unit in check. What some don't know about her is that she never turns that off! This week has been especially tough for our unit, but on her days off, Tina was calling people to make sure they were okay at work-her manager included!! She also took on full PCU patient loads as charge and did so with a smile.
While being charge, taking full patient loads, and continuing any operational duties, you would think come clock-out time one would run home without stopping. Not Tina. On Saturday, she had a priority over getting home. She stopped by the store to pick up a hairbrush for one of her patients. She came back on Sunday and did all the same things as Saturday, but found time to wash, brush and detangle her patient's hair.
What I admire most about Tina is that her dedication and her heart for this place and its people... they never stop. As a leader, I often strive to be perfect in all I do, but learning from Tina, I see that what matters most are the people around you. And checking in on them and supporting them. Tina is beyond the work exceptional. As a team, the least we can do is recognize all that she does that she doesn't want recognition for. She does all of this because, from the bottom of her heart, she sees all of us and she cares. Thank you, Tina!
