Christine checked with me about my Gran's history, symptoms, and wishes. She was thorough, kind, and considerate.
Christine was my grandmother's nurse when she came into the ER via ambulance. I arrived a short time later, and Christine checked with me about my Gran's history, symptoms, and wishes. She was thorough, kind, and considerate. While we initially thought Gran would be okay, it became clear she was deteriorating rapidly. Christine answered my tough questions, helped keep my Gran calm, and went with her to CT as she became more unstable. She advocated for Gran, made sure her wishes were honored and checked on her frequently.

As the weight of being the only family member there at the time bore down upon me, Christine shifted her focus to me. She offered all the methods of support available to her, continually checked on me, and brought me a dry mask when mine became soaked with tears. When other family arrived, she cared for them just as compassionately. She offered peanut butter and graham crackers to my diabetic stepfather and kept us apprised of the hospice situation. Before we moved upstairs, she carefully changed Gran and prepared her for her last journey.

That day was one of the hardest, most difficult days of my life. Christine made it bearable with her kind spirit, gentle nursing, and compassionate care for us all. I couldn't imagine what that day would have been like without her. If I had to experience this life-altering event, I'm so thankful Christine was there with me. She is truly a DAISY, a sweet and beautiful soul with immeasurable kindness, goodness, and devotion.
