She cares for each individual patient with so much compassion and attention to detail. If you were to go into a patient’s room after her, you would see her patient comfortable, listening to music that they enjoy playing, and their pillows propped exactly how the parents prefer them to be.
If you are lucky enough to work the night shift with her, then you know that she shows up to work every night with a smile on her face, ready to care for her patients. Christine is compassionate, gentle, and kind. She goes above and beyond to advocate for her patients. She does not hesitate to call the on-call doctor and is a rock star at detecting a patient going downhill. Christine gets them to a higher level of care in a quick, safe, and efficient manner. If she is your child’s nurse, then you know your child is comfortable and well taken care of.
Not only does Christine provide compassionate nursing care to her patients directly, but she also frequently runs charge nurse. When she is the charge nurse, the unit runs smoothly, and she is a fast-acting troubleshooter. She doesn’t hesitate to jump in and help to answer call bells, turn, change, or place an IV on a patient. She can de-escalate an upset and angry parent in minutes. Christine has been put into so many sticky situations, and I have witnessed her firsthand, which makes the parents of our patients feel better. I have witnessed her talk them through their concerns and offer to get them a coffee. I have witnessed her put together a huddle with the parents and the doctor so that the parents feel heard and their concerns validated.
Christine is so dedicated to her patients and their families. She cares for each individual patient with so much compassion and attention to detail. If you were to go into a patient’s room after her, you would see her patient comfortable, listening to music that they enjoy playing, and their pillows propped exactly how the parents prefer them to be. Providing bedside nursing care, we know that sometimes a patient’s parent can be particular and challenging. She handles these parents with so much consideration and grace. All of the above nursing qualities come so effortlessly for her. She is a natural nurturer, a leader, and a positive presence walking swiftly around the unit. If my kids were to ever need nursing care, I hope they would get a nurse like Christine.
