Christine went above and beyond to help a patient get home to Texas. Everything was arranged for this patient to get picked up via ambulance around 7 pm. The patient required two doses of medications for this 18-hour ambulance ride.
Meds to bed was not delivered during the day, and the patient was not able to go without them. At 9 at night, Christine left home to go to a 24hr CVS pharmacy to pick up this patient's meds and deliver them to him at the hospital so that the family didn’t get charged a cancellation fee and the discharge was not delayed.
This was beyond any expectation any nurse would have. To come in outside of your working hours to ensure a patient gets what they need for discharge is the compassion and dedication a nurse should be recognized for.
