Every moment with Christine is a teaching moment. From asking Christine for small favors to thorough physical help she is a nurse her colleagues can count on.
Christine received multiple nominations:
•I met this nurse leader when I was a secretary and tech on Pavilion A. She started her position as the night CRL and although she was new to the position she was immediately ready to jump in and offer a helping hand to all the staff she worked with! You can tell when someone is dedicated and motivated to work and deliver excellent patient care. From the very beginning, she displayed discretionary effort. While I was secretary I had a lot of time to see her work directly with the nursing staff and she has been such a great asset and resource. Recently I took a nursing job as a new grad and although it’s on the day shift Christine doesn’t fail to ask me every time I see her if there’s anything I need from her and how I’m doing! She makes great effort to go beyond supervising her shift to ensure she can meet the needs of even day shift nurses! I don’t have the pleasure of working with her but I know someone is a fantastic team player when each and every night shift nurse boasts about her. She has time and time again jumped in to take full patient assignments so her nurses don’t work short-handed. She is always offering to do tasks for them so they aren’t overwhelmed and she’s there when staff just need someone to confide in. I’m friends with a new grad, we went to the same school and she works nights. Like me, she goes through periods of feeling overwhelmed unsure, and doubtful. She tells me Christine is always ready to be by her side and teach her help her and share the workload with her. This new nurse feels the most comfortable when Christine is around and I can speak for the other night staff when I say she’s such an integral team player and an absolute gem to have on our unit!
•Christine has gone above and beyond to care for her coworkers and those under the role of an RN. She has treated CCAUs and secretaries as fairly as she treats an RN. I have been a CCAU on A for nearly 5 years where I have floated to other units and worked collaboratively at the bedside with Christine as well as had the pleasure of welcoming her to A as the night CRL a few years back. Every moment with Christine is a teaching moment. From asking Christine for small favors to thorough physical help she is a nurse her colleagues can count on. Focusing on one particular day shift or moment Christine has shown the ability to give great compassionate care would be too difficult. In these last almost five years I have seen Christine graciously work as a bedside nurse and utilize her tasks to teach new nurses and CCAUs like myself. Throughout the pandemic, I knew I could count on Christine to have my back and vouch for my coworkers. Christine defines a selfless caring individual who not only holds the title of a leader but rather fulfills it past capacity. Christine's colleagues and workers admire her and so do I. Christine deserves to be recognized for her great work with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leaders.
• I have been a night shift pavilion A CCAU since 2018 and I had the pleasure of welcoming Christine to Pavilion A as our new CRL. From the start, she has been the best thing to come to our unit especially night shift. Through it all, she has been there for each employee. I recently became a new graduate nurse on pavilion A and I am so lucky that I have Christine there to help me excel and become a great nurse like she is. As I started my new career I continuously asked her questions and she was always there to help me out. If I ever felt overwhelmed she would be there so I could vent and give me good advice on how to tackle certain situations. She is a team player and advocates for her fellow night shift staff members. On multiple occasions, she has stepped up and taken a full assignment during the night in order for us to not be put in unsafe situations since we would have been short-staffed. I am so grateful to have a supervisor like her, not only is she kind but she is funny which definitely makes working a lot more tolerable. Christine Lagasse deserves to be recognized for her outstanding leadership.
• Christine always answers my questions and encourages me to be a better nurse every day. I would be nowhere and not as confident if it wasn't for her. No one deserves this award as much as she does.
 • I  was privileged to be treated by the most caring day and evening shift medical professionals at Midstate Medical facility. All deserve special recognition and praise but RN Christine Lagasse set a true standard for empathy coupled with meaningful education.
 • Christine is always kind and helpful towards patients and coworkers. Never a day where she’s not lending a helping hand. Making you feel valued, appreciated, and heard. You’re the best Christine. Thank you for being our supervisor.
