Her manager, Diana, stated that Christine's persistence with the patient proved to be life-saving.
Christine demonstrated both outstanding skill and care when completing a PAT (pre-admission testing) call prior to the patient having their procedure in the Cardiac Cath Lab. While reviewing procedures, instructions, and the patient's medical history, she noticed his speech was altered and he was slurring his words. He stated he had been having difficulty for a few days. Christine told the patient he should call 911 and be evaluated in our ER. He declined and after hanging up Christine continued to worry about the patient's symptoms. She called back and told him she was calling 911 since she was concerned about his symptoms. The patient finally agreed to be evaluated in the SVMH Emergency Department. 30 minutes later he arrived in the ER, and a Code Stroke was called overhead. Her manager, Diana, stated that Christine's persistence with the patient proved to be life-saving. She is a highly experienced clinician, and in this case, utilized her excellent assessment skills to assure the patient received the care he needed.
