I was admitted to the MIU unit as a potential preeclampsia patient. This was my first pregnancy and while on the outside looked comfortable and okay with everything going on, I was truly SCARED... I didn't always know what the labs meant, what the tests were for, or what they were looking for. When Christine came in and took over my care, I knew I was in good hands. From her friendly demeanor to her freestyle hair, I knew this woman would go to bat for me and she absolutely did!
My delivery experience was not a typical one, and it moved quickly into an urgent situation where I was being poked and prodded and given drugs I could not even pronounce. My nurse was with me every step of the way and she answered all of my husband's and family's questions. Even in the OR, she held my hand as I was being prepped by people I didn't know and didn't really want to know- because I didn't want to be in this situation.
She was by my side before my husband came into the room, she was there with us both, and she was there greeting our first child while we were busy focusing on emergency surgery. She greeted our child!
Christine knew our IVF story and what it took for us to finally have a child, and she was genuinely excited for us. She took his first pictures and kept us updated on his condition every step.
This nurse truly embodies the care and compassion of an EXTRAordinary nurse. She cared for our whole family even though I was technically her patient. She was attentive and thoughtful, her answers made sense to us, her questions were motivated by her caring spirit, and her genuine joy for her job was palpable.
Christine was responsible for positively changing our family story and our lives. We will always be so grateful for her and she will always be remembered for that. If we were to ever have a second child, we would come back here just for Christine. Thank you Christine for the wonderful care you gave to us.
