After the trauma of having to go to the ER and being admitted late in the night due to Pyelonephritis for my husband, Christine appeared in our room in the morning and immediately brightened the day. Her positive attitude along with her excellent bedside nursing skills kept my husband directed toward a positive goal and acceptance of a difficult situational change in his life. He needed to be straight cathed every four hours and eventually ended up with an indwelling foley bag for discharge home. Christine helped him through this very difficult process and she gained his trust and appreciation. He has an extensive medical history due to cancer. Swallowing, hearing and speech problems make communication very difficult. Christine was able to bring a smile to his face. She gave extensive training to other RNs regarding his special needs. Her "sterile technique" on straight cathing was excellent! She taught him how to care for his indwelling catheter and he was able to understand and return demonstrate well. Rush and Oncology have a treasure and role model for all practicing RNs in Christine. We were lucky to have her during my husband's stay.
