Chris was outside when a patient parked his car and got out to ask Chris to help him. The man spoke Spanish, so Chris called up to get a Medsurg nurse to come outside to translate. The man was not able to state where he came from or where he was going, only that he lives on Main Street but could not state the city. Chris escorted him to the ED to have him evaluated as she noted the man seemed confused, and she was worried for his wellbeing. It turns out the man who drove 70 miles from home had memory issues and somehow ended up at Wing Hospital. The man ended up becoming a patient, and his family could not be more grateful that he was safe after wandering off so far from home. It was Chris’s quick thinking and noticing something was not right that led to the patient being brought to safety. The man ended up being discharged safely to a facility where he was placed to live for his own safety. The family could not be more thankful for all the staff’s effort but especially to Chris and being in the right place at the right time.
