... This is my second visit within ASHU in which my husband was diagnosed with a heart condition in which we decided to not have the surgery on our first admission. A year later we return to ASHU in which I spent the few days before surgery beating myself up for not pushing him to have the procedure. I was distraught and alone wondering if I made the right decision. Then God sent me a army of angels and one of them was Christine.
I was so afraid and felt as if he would not make it. I was unable to cope with the surgery or watching the man I have spent over 20 years suffer the way he did. Chris not only provided exceptional care to my husband she was a comfort to me. She saw the clinical needs of my husband while providing support to me. When he woke Chris was there to calm him as he was not himself and very anxious. Chris patiently talked to him while holding his hand and explaining what he was going through and no matter how difficult the situation she remained calm and displayed a compassion that is rarely seen. She began to share stories with my husband that made him laugh and feel safe. I personally had not slept for days and for the first time I was able to go home and know that he was in safe hands.
Chris was my husband and my guardian angel. There were so many other nurses I cannot mention. The care I received in ASHU was outstanding and remarkable. I would recommend this unit to anyone who needs the care given by the nurses in ASHU.
