He not only helped us but cheered my mother up and gave her comfort.
I met Chris when my 98-year-old mother was recovering from a broken hip. He was never officially my mom’s nurse, but he would often cover for other staff, or help us out when no one else was around to answer my questions or get the help we needed. He not only helped us but cheered my mother up and gave her comfort. And one day, after answering my question about blood types, he even printed me out a sheet about what types of blood one can give/receive.
Chris not only helped patients, whether his or not, but I repeatedly saw him answering questions from other nurses/aids. Staff would go to him (repeatedly!) for assistance with their computers and the hospital’s programs. And his nursing skills were also amazing, and I was quite relieved when he took charge of my mom’s blood infusion. His outstanding services to patients and staff make him VITAL to St. John’s reputation and future success.
This nomination is from one person who followed through to recognize him, but I’m sure that Chris has impressed hundreds of others who just didn’t take the time to call and praise him.
***
Chris is an exceptional nurse dedicated to patient care and comfort with a holistic approach that extends to the patients’ families. His warmth is exuded in his communication and individualized care. Always pleasant in tone and demeanor to address concerns. Educating patient and family about medications and treatments provided.
Extremely supportive – going above and beyond and always wanting to do more to promote patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Such a genuine light that shines brightly regardless of external circumstances to consistent to consistently provide quality care and promote optimal recovery.
