Chris is an exemplary member of the CCU Staff. He comes in with a smile and a positive attitude every day. He is a role model that we look up to. I truly think of him as a brother. He's been at my side through the toughest of patients and the most stressful codes. When I work with him, I know why patients are that much safer and that we can work as a team together. He puts confidence in the staff he works with because I trust his judgment and he is able to trust mine. He is someone I am able to ask questions and together we work ourselves out of troublesome situations.
Chris truly deserves the DAISY Award because of his leadership, positive attitude, and his exceptional skills as a nurse. I remember one instance where he endorsed to me a very critical patient. Many of the doctors and staff were unsure if the patient was going to make it or not. However, Chris stayed extra time after his shift ended. Together, we pushed medications and continuously reassessed the patient. He stayed over and did not leave that bedside until that patient started stabilizing. The doctors were amazed and so were we. If Chris had not worked so hard that night, I'm not sure if the patient would have made it to the next night. It is his outstanding capability he showed me that night, and every night after that I have worked with him, that I believe he truly is an Extraordinary DAISY Nurse.
