We would like to recognize Christopher McBride. He is the epitome of a professional nurse and embodies what this organization stands for. We had a patient in L&D that was a full-term fetal demise and was very sick. We were concerned and felt out of our element when one of the specialists ordered a bunch of medications that we were not familiar with. We called the ICU for help. Christopher arrived to our unit; he was so patient and polite and walked us through everything we needed to do for the patient. He introduced himself and explained all the medications and how they worked to the L&D staff as well as the patient to ensure we understood what was happening. Once he found out the patient lost her baby, he was very compassionate and caring in conveying how sorry he was that they were having this unfortunate experience. Once we got everything going, he told us how often we needed to follow up on her blood sugars. What was even more amazing about Christopher is that he called us several times during the shift to ensure that we were comfortable and to make sure we didn't have any questions.
